English:

This term, our shared reading and writing program will be focusing on the English concepts of character, narrative, connotation, imagery and symbol through engaging in texts about bears. We started our learning journey on bears by holding a teddy bear’s picnic. Students will participate in a variety of activities that support their learning.

For spelling, students will continue to engage in the Soundwaves program. There will be a focus on hearing and recording sounds in CVC words, as well as learning to read and write high frequency words.

Mathematics:

Throughout Term 3, we will be learning about the following concepts:

Whole Number - Trusting the count and instantly recognising the number of objects or dots in a pattern of objects

Addition and Subtraction - investigating different methods of adding and subtracting

Length - identifying objects that are long and short and record results informally.

Multiplication and Division - modelling equal groups and identifying groups that are unequal

Fractions - Recognising and recording the fractions whole and halves.

2D Space - Identifying regular two-dimensional shapes in the environment and describing the features.

Time - Reading and recording o’clock times on digital and analogue clocks.

Other Key Learning Areas:

Geography - Students will learn to identify what a place is, and places that are special. Students will learn local places of significant importance to Aboriginal culture, and how to care for places. They will also investigate maps to identify places, and use drawings to represent places.

PDH - Students will be learning about how to keep themselves and others safe and healthy, including lessons on road safety, water safety, and identifying people who can help them in an emergency.

PE - Sport will alternate between Sports In Schools and Stage Sport. In odd weeks, students will participate in Sports In Schools and practice a wide range of fundamental movement skills and dance. During even weeks, students will participate in an AFL Auskick program developed by Ms O’Connor. We look forward to a great game of AFL at the end of the Term.  PE will also include students learning a range of Indigenous games to continue their learning of Aboriginal culture while practicing fundamental movement skills.

C.A.P.A - Students will engage in both Dance and Visual Art lessons throughout the term. They will use the artwork of Wassilly Kandinsky to inspire and create their own masterpieces. During dance,  students will explore and experiment different movement sequences with disco dancing.

Homework:

Students will be provided with weekly homework that includes sight words, Reading Eggs, home reading and Seesaw activities.

Home reading is to be completed using the online levelled books on the PM eWebsite.

RFF:

Science and library are completed by our RFF teachers Mr Basso, Mrs Caloia, Mrs A and Miss Sant.
